Profile Information

About Me:
I am a 37 yo administrative assistant in Texas. I have an almost-16 yo stepdaughter who lives 900 miles away, but we are very close. I live alone with the spoiled dog my husband and I adopted 3.5 years ago.
About my Loss:
My husband of 8.5 years passed away at the beginning of November 2016. He had a long history of depression but seemed to be doing better in recent months. Our lives were improving after some major setbacks over the last few years, including his liver transplant and struggle to go back to work. It came as quite a shock when I came home from work one day to find he had shot himself in the head. He was my best friend and we had so many plans together and I will never understand why he did what he did. He didn't even leave a note.

Stephanie, I just read you profile and my heart goes out to you! I truly will get easier to cope with as time goes on but it is a two steps forward one step back any time you are dealing with a loss, especially one so close and dear!!  My heart and thoughts are with you. Thanks for your friend request!

Hi Stephanie, thanks for the friend request. I'm so sorry about your husband; my husband had depression too and took an overdose of pills in September. I am heartbroken. It's so hard trying to understand why. I hope we can help and support each other. {{{hugs}}}

Stephanie, I know what you mean about reading all the posts and wondering if it EVER gets even a little bit better...So sad, so depressing. What kind of way to live a life.

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
