It's Been 5 years already, why can't I cope?
I lost my dear mother to cancer 5 years ago and it still feels like yesterday sometimes. I was the only one with her the night she died. The rest of the family was due to come in to the hospice at 0800 and she sat straight up and took her last gasping breaths at 0712. I had to call my family and do what I had done so many times as my work as an RN: tell that Mom had taken "a bad turn" and that they should come in now. Traumatic loss of an only child
I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.
