About Me:
I'm 54 years old, I live alone and am divorced with no children. Everyone in my immediate family has died. I have four cousins, but only one speaks to me. I have two cats. Most of my friends are married with families of their own or have moved out of state.
About my Loss:
In 1981 I lost my mother to cancer. My older brother (and only sibling) Mark died of sudden cardiac death syndrome in 2001, and my father died of a heart attack the same year. My brother was my rock. We lived together most of our lives and were best friends. When he died, it changed my past, present and future. I miss him every single day, but I am finally okay again.

Hello, Lori.  I'm sorry I'm so late posting here, but I too have lost a brother.  Actually, I've lost 3 and it's difficult.  In addition, I've lost my mom and dad, who both had Alzheimer's disease.  Dad had cancer as well.  I watched them both waste away.  It was heart breaking.  One of my brother died from cancer, one from heart attack, and one for respiratory arrest (COPD).

Unlike most of you, my losses are not new, but they still affect my life every day.  When I was really lost, an online grief group was my lifeline.  I've learned that helping others also helps me, and I hope that sharing some of my experiences will encourage you to believe that things will eventually get better.
