Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More

About Me:
64 year old co-dependent female
About my Loss:
4 weeks ago I lost my Soulmate/BFF that I knew for 40+ years. He accepted me any way I was and always helped me out of any problem I had. We were engaged at one point and intended on getting back together once herhad his kidney transplant. He was married but not happy but needed to stay there until he got his kidney. His wife had a boyfriend so she has him to lean on....I have no one because I always leaned on him. I'm lost and scared and empty without him. I'm finally not reaching for the phone to call him like we always did (anytime day or night) and I miss hearing his ringtone when he called me. Life will never be the same. I was very codependent on him and loved him so much. We don't even know yet why he died.
I've asked his wife for a pinch of his ashes for a necklace so I'd have a part of him and she got upset with me.now I'm afraid to bring it up again....it's now been 4 weeks so he should be back by now.

"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
