It's all okay now

2 weeks ago today you left this Earth to begin your pain free journey with Jesus. I'm forever grateful to be one of your granddaughters, to have been loved endlessly by you. I miss so many things. I miss your smell, the way you looked at nanny, the way you would light up when I walked into the house, our texts with your emojis; and so much more. It feels like it was 10 minutes ago that I checked for a pulse knowing in my head that there wouldn't be one because you had taken your last breath…See More

Profile Information

About Me:
Hi there. I'm 28, happily married, born & raised in the Midwest. I am a hospice nurse PRN and do health insurance verification for an internal med office. I have 1 dog and 2 cats, no human kids; yet! I love being outdoors, drinking coffee, family time, painting and listening to music; I also love writing.
About my Loss:
My maternal grandfather passed away on 11/9/21. He and my grandmother (still living) are my best friends. I was with him as well as family at the time of him passing. I was the one who noticed he had stopped breathing and checked for a pulse, hoping there would be one; but knowing there wouldn't be. I am heartbroken and have no idea how to handle this and need all the support I can get.
Are You a Service Provider? If Yes, please tell us about your service.
Yes. I have been a hospice nurse since 2016. I now do that PRN and work in medical office. I was, however, my grandfather's primary caregiver for the last 2 months of his life.

"GriefShare is a church based support group. They do have meetings online, but the usual format is a group of people experiencing a loss getting together weekly to watch videos (13 weeks total) about grief and loss. After the video, we talk about the…"

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
