About Me:
I am 24 years-old. I am currently in graduate school at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. I am in the Master's of English (M.A.) program until August 2010. I enjoy video games, hanging out with my boyfriend/friends, watching movies, cooking and being a generally happy person.
About my Loss:
My mom died on February 19, 2009. When she was pregnant with me in February of 1984, she was in a really bad car accident. She broke three bones in her neck, nine ribs and had a lot of scar tissue in her lungs. At the time of her death, she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and Congestive Heart Failure. She was also using supplemental oxygen 24 hours a day (sleeping, shower, etc.) She had about 30% lung capacity at her last lung doctor appointment. She was in bed, asleep when my dad heard her breathing becoming very labored. We don't know if she had a heart attack or if no more oxygen could make its way to her heart. Either way, my dad performed CPR and the paramedics shocked her, she never came back. She had made dinner for us (my father, my two sisters, my boyfriend and her grandson) the night before she died--that's how unexpected her death was. She seemed ok just hours before she left us.

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
