About Me:
I am 63, retired music teacher, mother of 3, grandmother of either 2, 6 or 9 depending on whims of ex-daughters'- in-law. I live in a very small community, attend a wonderful small Baptist Church, and miss my husband terribly.
About my Loss:
My husband of 42 1/2 years passed away October 7, 2010 of cancer. Like most marriages we had our ups and downs but we were best friends, we understood and respected each other. He was the "Wind at my Back" the Wind Beneath My Wings and Holder of my Heart.

Kathy~ I go by Pat.  I have really met some wonderful women on this site.  It helps to network with people who are going though the same thing.  Feel free to message me any time ~ if you just want to talk.  Some days I feel like waves of water are washing over me every time I try to catch my breath.  The thought of my husband really being gone overwhelms me sometimes.  Hope you are having the best day possible.

Kathy~Welcome to online grief support.  I lost my husband of 37 years on December 3, 2010.  He was waiting for a heart transplant.  Please join our group My Soulmate My Best Friend.  We are all grieving the loves of our life.  My marriage too was not perfect but my husband was always there.  I feel like the lost young woman I was when I graduated high school.  I have no idea how to spend the rest of my life.  Everyone keeps telling me it's now time for me.  I'm not even sure who  "ME" is after being married for so long.  I miss Joe so much it hurts most days.  None of my friends have lost their husbands yet so they don't know what it feels like.  We are all here for each other.  Again ~ Welcome!

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
