Sorry Karen it took me so long to write you back been kinda spacey. So very sorry for all of your losses. it sucks losing people so close to you. I really want to skip the holidays this yr. But I will put on a good face for my children. They have had enough pain this yr. So I'm gonna really try to have a good holiday for them. That's what my mom would want. I miss her so much! sometimes it's just to much to bear

Big hugs to you,

Melissa

Karen, Thank you for your encouragment. I'm still here!  I know Ken, as a man, is less likely to be able to show his emotions... to them it is a sign of weakness. He is putting all of his efforts into work and politics..... trying to keep his thoughts of Kenny away as much as he can. He told me that when anyone talks about Kenny to him  he gets that gut-wrenching, knife-in-the-heart pain that is just unbearable. So he avoids it.  I know he loves me with all his heart...as he did Kenny.

I haven't been on here in a few days. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to use this site and how I want to configure the various privacy settings.  I'm not sure I want my comments to the group to be visible to everyone.... even those who don't Sign-In to the site or to the group... makes it a little too public for me to really open up.  But, then again, how do you find friends and others in your situation if you cannot see theri posts.  I don't know....still a bit confused.  Hope you are finding it helpful.

Karen,  Please don't be embarassed about anything you write on this site. The thing I've found most helpful is having a safe place to pour out my feelings with no judgement or demands to people who truly understand what I'm going through. Unless they have been there, they cannot understand. You may want to join one of the groups that deal more specifically with the loss of your husband. I put on my face to the public but I am still a total wreck after 16 months. I know that I will never be the same....I just hope that one day I will be sane....

Karen, I just recently found this grief site and joined yesterday for the Group "Missing my Son or Daughter". I'm DJ from Lomonte's and joined as "Kenny's mom". I recognized you from your City and then from your story. We are both struggling from such different kinds of Grief but all emcompassing grief just the same. My heart aches for you.

There is another Grief group that you might be interested in... I belonged to it for the past year. The one I was in is for parents who lost a child to substance abuse but they have other groups. It is an email system. It is a non-profit http://griefnet.org/

Glad I got to see you briefly the other night.

Hugs and Love,

DJ, Kenny's mom

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
