Profile Information

About Me:
I live in Burlington, Ontario. I holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from McMaster University and has worked in the community health care field since 1976. I am the author of “Baby Boomers Face Grief – Survival and Recovery".

My work has included dealing with palliative clients and their bereaved families for the past two decades and also assists facilitating grief support groups. I have been involved with both residential hospices that opened in my region as well as the palliative care initiatives.
About my Loss:
I lost my mother 18 years ago and it was facing that loss and recognizing the way society deals with grief that was why I wrote the book. I know that different losses create different reactions and it is about the relationship you had with the person who has died.
Are You a Service Provider? If Yes, please tell us about your service.
I present on a regular basis to many community groups, hospices, volunteer groups and businesses. Companies concerned about lost productivity have embraced workshops on the effect of grief in the workplace.

As well I have presented to the Bereavement Ontario Network annual meeting and the Canadian Hospice and Palliative Care Conference in 2007 and Roswell Park Cancer Institute in September 2009. My website it www.boomergrief.com

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
