Emily, I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my father to cancer several years ago and know just how heartbreaking it is to watch a loved one battle this awful disease. Although it's been a number of years since my father died, I still miss him terribly. I often think about the events that have happened in my life that I would have loved to share with him. And the things that I would have liked to discuss with him - he was such a wise and caring man. I understand the pain you are going through right now - it's a pain that never really goes away entirely but can be leveled out somewhat by hope. That is what happened to me when I read a brochure entitled "When Someone You Love Dies". It helped me to understand the stages of grief and that everything I was feeling was normal.
This brochure also comforted me in the knowledge that my Dad is "sleeping" and that it is God's promise to awaken him one day to reunite him with his family. I look forward to that day with all my heart!
There is so much practical and spiritual information in this brochure - you may find it comforting, too. I found it on JW.org.
I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
