i am the author of HANNAH'S GIFT: Lessons From A Life Fully Lived (Bantam 2002) and UNRAVELED (Harmony 2005). my three-year old daughter, hannah died in August 1994, and my beloved father, Ron Schlack died of cancer in May 2003.
About my Loss:
my grief in the wake of my father's death surprised me. i thought that because i had already lost a child and because my father was sick for a long time and died peacefully, i was prepared. but nothing can prepare us, because each loss is unique. i still have conversations with my daughter and my father, in my heart and in my head, but i miss their physical presence terribly. the grief gets easier to bear over time, though. it becomes a part of us - a reminder of how much we've loved and of how strong we are. <3
