Hi all,

I've just added a new feature to the site.  Favorite books.  If you have read any books that you found helpful in your walk with grief,  I would be glad to add them to our favorite books list.  Just let me know.

Here's a book that I recently (yesterday in fact):

Healing Grief, Finding Peace by Dr. Louis E. Lagrand

Gives you lots of ways to help cope w/grief. Chief among them is changing your negative, hurtful thoughts to positive coping mechanisms.

Hi, for anyone struggling with disenfranchised grief "disenfranchised grief, recognising hidden sorrow" really helped me. It is probably more written for other proffesionals but is as far as I am aware the only book on disenfranchised grief.

It really helped me to know there were others who understood. It covers grief such as that from having an abortion or miscarraige or the loss of an ex partner or gay partner and the loss of a loved one to suicide or aids amoungst other situations.

Thanks, I'll add these soon.  Lou LaGrand is actually a member of this site, although he hasn't been on here in a while.  Good choices.  Thanks again.

"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
