Brandon Parra Donation Fund

This is Brandon 1/29/2013 from Pre-OP just before his first surgery of the week. Its purpose was to help his bowels to work properly. Instead, it was only the first of three surgeries that week, which resulted in a colostomy and Brandon going to ICU.

Just yesterday he was operated on to close the incision made in his abdomen to try to clean is insides of the feces and give him a chance to live.

You know that I usually spread encouragement from the Bible because I believe that God's promises are what can carry us through this grief journey that none of us chose. I have found that helping Brandon and his mother heartwarming.

They are caught in a situation they need immediate help with and cannot get out of without help - Please read the story of Brandon and if you can help and tell other about his story he will be appreciative.

The family and friends of 15 year old Brandon are uniting to raise money for medical and living expenses. Please show your support!

Please PAY it FORWARD and give to the Brandon Parra Donnation Fund!

“Brandon's Story”

Brandon was a normal, intelligent boy until 9-10 years old when he began showing signs of P.A.N.D.A.S. -(Pediatric Autoimmun Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus’) PANDAS is caused when the bacterial Streptococcal pathogen triggers an acute neuropsychiatric disease. Usually, when the body detects a bacterial infection, the autoimmune system creates antibodies to fight the infection. In the case of PANDAS, the strep infection causes antibodies to be created, but instead of only attacking the strep, the antibodies also cross the blood-brain barrier and attack the Basal Ganglia. This causes swelling in the caudate, putamen, and globus pallidus parts of the brain and causes the PANDAS symptoms.

PANDAS symptoms include tics, obsessions and compulsions, mood swings, temper tantrums, attention difficulties, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and unusual movements called choreiform movements. The symptoms “explode” in severity overnight. Just so you understand Brandon was perfectly fine one day but the next his OCD, compultions, hyperactivity and constant pacing started. He paces and repeats two or three broken sentences over and over 24/7. There are weeks when he does not sleep - and at night his chanting becomes so loud that no one can sleep.

Then in December 2011 he and his single mom were severely injured in an automobile accident which was caused by a man seeking to commit suicide and with olny $30,000 of insurance and no assets. Therefore, Brandon and his mom are on their own to handle the situation. Their medical and living expenses are astronomical due to his mother’s crushed vertebrae and Brandon’s added abdominal injuries. They are behind on their rent - their water has been turned off - their car is about to be repossessed - his mom cannot work due to Brandon's care. The hospital cannot allow his mother to leave the hospital due to insurance risk factors and Brandon's PANDAS.

Brandon has been at North Cypress Medical Center since the early January 2013. He had three surgeries including a colostomy which had to be left open for drainage reasons. Brandon has spent a week in ICU on life support while in a medical drug induced coma because of Sepsis, Peritonitis and the open incision. The doctors are treating his PANDAS and the medical conditions along with his genetic disorder(15q11.2 deletion). Brandon will have long term care in a step down hospital when he leaves North Cypress Medical Center and only then be able to return home.

Without help they will be homeless and without a car to get them to treatments and and doctor appointments. They have only Brandon's Social Security check each month to live on. The story and complications are daunting!

Please “Pay it Forward” and help Brandon by giving to the Brandon Parra Donation Fund:

I pray that God's promise at Isaiah 33:24, "And no resident will say: “I am sick."will be fulfilled soon. If you can spread the word or help, THANK YOU!

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
