Deeply saddened when alcoholic boyfriend died suddenly. We were together 4 yrs. The last 1 1/2 he was over drinking. 2 weeks before his death he showed thinking confusion and was leaving me horrible mean messages on phone. So I ignored him 2 weeks. When I tried to call no answer. Then his friend came over told me he died.
No warning, no closure, severe grief!
How can I get through this?
I hope there are some answers.

Hi Carrie, my girlfriend dieed 5 years ago. She lived in ~Canada and I live in Scotland. I visited her often because she couldn't travel. She had type 1 diabetes and caught a cross contamination in a foot wound. She was attending a wound clinic that passed on the infection. Sadly she died within 3 days. Her funeral was arranged so quickly, I didn't have time to go out there to say goodbye properly. A few months afterwards, I went slowly downhill and found myself in a Clinical depression. Life wasn't worth living. Although i'm on the other side of me coming to terms with my loss. I miss her every single day. Sorry to say, there is no easy answer. Grief is a very personal thing. I do feel for your loss as we share that pain and the emotions surrounding our loss. It is simply one day at atime, often one minute, or one hour, or one second at a time. Hereis a big huggg from Scotland, John

Hi Anne, thanks for reply. Yes it is a constant struggle when unexpected.
I am seeking counseling to learn how to get over all of the wondering if I could’ve done something more to help him. Been 1 month. Sorry for your loss too. I guess we just gotta get up and out. New sights do break up some of the depressed moments.

"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More
