My mom had written this before the diagnosis of cancer. She had many blood clots after my brother was born, which gave her a lifetime of more clots, serious pain and illness. But this really captures the way she was through it all, and even after the cancer diagnosis and the time she lived after.

What Do You Do?

by Kathleen P.

Always a fighter, it's been said

Not one to quit, never that thought in my head

But what do you do when the road seems so long?

With the pain unrelenting and sleep so elusive

Years of faith and hope that someone can help

Another doctor, another disappointment; or will he be the one?

What do you do when you feel like giving up?

Thoughts of my children - my Chris and my Kimmie

Life is too precious and not to be wasted

Dreams left to dream, adventures yet to happen

Laughs still to laugh and hugs still to be given

Many rainbows and butterflies yet to admire

More hours of fun with those loved most

Then what do you do at the end of the day?

Live life to the fullest; I'm in it to stay!

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
