About my Loss:
Almost 2 years ago, our family lost our 30 year old son. This week I actually thought I was having a breakdown, losing my mind, as visions of his life constantly run through my mind, not to mention anger, needing questions answered but never will... everything happened to unexpectedly and so quickly, part of me thinks that somehow could have been avoided, sometimes I am so nuts I think if only this person or that person had been more attentive and so on. I had been blocking out so much, the pain is unbearable, the longing is endless, he was our best friend, teacher and loving brother to our daughter... she is still torn. Finding this website gave me some comfort in realizing the way I feel is experienced by so many that have lost a child. For me, right now, every day, every minute the torment seems endless. Thank you to this site for allowing me to realize I am a mother and only human.

I recently found this site too, thanks to a loving friend. I only joined last week but I agree with you that it is a wonderful place to be-to be able to hear other stories and know that I am not alone, nor am I crazy. I hope you find some comfort here as I have. God bless you, Sharon

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
