About Me:
Daughter and sister. I am 24 years old, have a younger brother who is in the army, and a wonderful mother with the biggest heart out there. I'm a daddys girl all the way.
About my Loss:
In april of 2012 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer. I am the one that was mostly taking him to all of his doctor appointments (which were an hour from home and usually an all day thing, which was too hard physically on my mom or she would have been there every time too). He immediately after diagnosis recieved 10 radiation treatments within 10 days. He felt great after and we all looked forward to starting his chemo. We were and remained very hopeful. From the beginning his chemo was a struggle, not in the sense of sickness or symptoms, but getting the chemo itself was a struggle. His blood platelets were lower than they prefer (around 100k), his were down at around 60k come time for his first round of chemo. They decided that the cancer (which was in his lungs at liver) was probably in his marrow as well, causing the platelets to be stunted. They said that giving his a half dose of chemo to get things started was best...so we did. He felt good. a few weeks passed and it was time again, his platelets had gone up a bit, which gave us great happiness. not high enough for a full dose, so again we did half. he felt good. At this point they began checking his blood once or twice a week to keep an eye on everything. His platelets began to drop. from this point on, his next few treatments were pushed back a week or so, trying to get his platelets up by way of transfusions. then his red blood cells began to drop, so he began getting blood as well. around the end of june he was scheduled for chemo, everything was too low, his reds, whites, and platelets now. so it was pushed back a week, then two weeks, then three weeks. one of his doctors showed sign of worry the last time we saw her, and wanted to get a scan to see what was going on, she had a feeling it was spreading, and fast ( as small cell cancer does). this was the first time i knew something bad was going on, something worse than the already terrible diagnosis. one week later my father passed away. this was july 16, 2012. this has left my mom, my brother, and myself broken. my dad told me just the week before he passed while we were at the hospital that i was his rock, that if i broke, mom and brother would crumble. now im trying to be strong, for them if not myself. i feel lost and i miss him. i dont know what to do...
