Profile Information

About Me:
I will soon undergo the empty nest syndrome my youngest graduates from HS next month. My oldest is already a freshman in college. I am very well educated and lawyer by training. I also FINALLY ended an emotional and physically abusive marriage (19 yrs) two years ago. I enjoy my career and social life. I have awesome children and the 2-3 people I consider friends are indeed friends.
About my Loss:
I lost my father almost 20 years ago. He died of a massive heart attack. Quickly and cleanly. He left the house to take care of business and did not come home. I lost my mother recently in March of 2010. She got sick on my birthday in November of 2009. She had a brain tumor and she never fully recovered. She tried so hard to. I was in a bad place because I knew my sisters were prepared to try any and everything to keep her alive especially my youngest sister. I was the more practical one but I had to hold it within because I did not want to be accused of giving up. I was also viewed as the corporate bossy one so I had to be a bit more low key to keep the peace. I also acted as a referree when my two sisters argued about the care of my mother. My mom died a horrible slow death. She suffered. I was seeing a therapist with my girls after my husband and I separated but I also see him on a monthly and of course I talk about my mother. She was indeed a beautiful person and miss her so much. She was the glue that kept all my brothers and sisters and I together. Sometimes I feel good but at night I have an especially bad time.

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
