About Me:
I am 48 yrs. old, I have three sons, 2 are married, 1 is engaged. I have 2 grandson's one of which is a cancer survivor, 2 step grand daughters, and 1 step grandson. I am a recent widow. I was married to my husband for almost 33 years. Well actually it will be 33 years on Monday, 8/27/12.
About my Loss:
I lost my husband to cancer. Three years ago my husband was diagnosed with diabetes. So I immediately got to work, researching, and learning the BEST way to take care of him. And I managed to turn his diabetes around. I had him completely off of his medication withon one month. Had him in the best shape that he had ever been in. He was in better shape than when I married him, as he was very overweight growing up. So, anyway in the past three years, he had passed every one of his medical test with flying colors. He had the heart of a 20 year old, he had a colonoscopy and only had 1 polyp which they snared and removed easily. His blood pressure was better than perfect. It was amazing! This man was an OTR truck driver for 25 years and for most of those years came home from a trip and hit the couch for the entire weekend because he was overweight and was to tired to move. But for the last three years, he had so much energy, I was asking him to slow down and wait on me. He would literately come home on the weekend and go non-stop. He mowed 5 yards every weekend, because some of the people in our neighborhood were elderly, and he didn't like to see them mowing. So he would do it, that's just the kinda man he was. Anyway, one October 2011 morning, he woke up with a limp and thought he had pulled a muscle. Well for 2 months he was treated for a sciatic nerve problem. That wasn't the problem. He had a tumor on his left hip bigger than a football. Then with more test, they found that he had tumorsin his left ribcage and it had already eaten through his ribs, they stopped counting at 60 tumors in his lungs, they said there was probably 100's, 2 tumors on his liver, 3 on his lower spine, and 2 on his spine in his neck area. Also, his neck had been shattered by a chiropractor who was "treating" him for vertabrae's that were messed up. He was a QUACK by the way. Anyway, my husband was told on 1/17/12 which was my great grandpa's birthday, that he had all of those tumors, on 1/26/12 my husband was told it was cancer, which was my brothers birthday. And on 7/26/12, he passed away, which by the way was his dads 89th birthday. So as you can see we are terrified of birthdays rolling around. In 2010 our 4 year old grandson was diagnosed with cancer the day before (7/25/10) my husband's dad's 87th birthday, and then on (7/31/10), my mother's birthday, we were told our grandson was definitely cancer. Birthday's are very scary around here.
