About my Loss:
My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in March of 2015.The kidney cancer spread to both lungs and to his brain. I took him to 10 different doctors and to 3 different hospitals for treatments. In April of 2015 he had his right kidney removed because there was a large malignant tumor on his right kidney. He was sent to the oncologist. Soon he was referred to another oncologist in San Diego because the cancer had spread and growing quickly. The oncologist in San Diego wanted my husband to have an IL2 treatment and 2 treatments of radiation. He was hospitized for 7 days for the IL2 treatment. Took my husband home and had to call 911 because he trouble breathing. Drove him to the ER because he refused to go by ambulance. My husband refused to be admitted into the hospital. My sister-in-laws friend was able to get oxygen at home for my husband. The cancer had taken over my husband's lung. He had to be on oxygen 24 hours a day to breathe. His cough had gotten worse as the cancer grew. The 4th of July was the last holiday that my boys and I spent with my husband. I remember that Sunday my husband saying that he wanted to die. That he cannot live like this anymore. He did not want to suffer anymore. He was coughing constantly. He was having difficulty speaking. He was have trouble eating and drinking liquids. He did not want to have to be on oxygen 24 hours a day anymore or have to do 4 breathing treatments a day. He did not want to have to take all the meds anymore either. So that Monday he called the P.A. and was told to go to the ER. I drove him to the ER. We spent all day at the ER. My husbands oncologist was out of town. It took a few hours to get a hold of him. His doctor wanted my husband to be treated in San Diego at the hospital in San Diego. So I drove my husband to San Diego to be admitted to the hospital. My husband was in the ER for a few days being treated. In the morning they moved my husband to the ICU. The next day he died in the hospital with family and friend at this bedside.
