LGBT Grief Forum

I've been a member for, oh, just a couple of days, but I've noticed a possible lack of focus on LGBT issues related to the loss of loved ones.I know what I had to go through - even with medical POA and a will - to gain legitimacy with the "powers that be" with regard to authorization for cremation, among other things.Just wondering if perhaps there are issues unique to the LGBT community that the other fine people on this site did NOT have to go through.I welcome your thoughts and…See More

Profile Information

About Me:
I’m a 58 year old Pagan man and I live in north Georgia, just outside of Chattanooga Tennessee.
I love music and books and traveling when possible.
About my Loss:
My Mother passed away on February 5th of this year after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She had just turned 73.
My Mom, Judy, was the Matriarch of our family which was quite large at one time.
With her passing I find myself left totally alone.... and I’m struggling.

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
