About Me:
After losingmy Mom, Andrea Adams, a renowned BBC journalist and pioneer against Bullying in the Workplace to cancer at a young age, author, I gained some rather deep and painful insights into grief and loss. . .

Wishing to re-connect with her mothers’ love, especially during birthdays and celebrations—previously joyous occasions that had become Lonely Landmarks—Gemini yearned for something to help her maintain the fading connection; perhaps a letter, a video or memento, anything that captured the affection of which her Mom had once been the source. Convinced she was not alone, she began an online survey asking:

“If one of your parents died, what would you prefer: to inherit their money or a letter saying how much they loved you?”

Over 90% expressed a wish for the loving letter.

Hoping to expand her expertise she began interviewing experts in these fields, while studying with CRUSE—the UK’s leading Bereavement Care organization, and practicing with the National Federation of Spiritual Healers.

Gemini met with, and interviewed hundreds of survivors, discovering that the desire for continuing bonds—a tangible way to connect with the love of someone we have lost—is, in fact, shared by everyone. It was this discovery, combined with a desire to reduce the suffering of others, that inspired the book, Your Legacy of Love: Realize the Gift in Goodbye, which, since its publication in 2009 (Live Consciously Publishing) has gained rave reviews, been translated into Japanese, and received the:

> Mom’s Choice Gold Award 2010

> International Book Awards Finalist

> Dad’s Seal of Approval 2009

> National Best Book Award 2009

In 2006, Gemini was awarded the prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship for her work. Subsequently she was offered a grant by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to further her research, enabling her to spend ten weeks interviewing directors of leading hospices, palliative care, and bereavement organizations across the United States, to explore The Role of Love in Palliative Care.

Working together with The Sacred Dying Foundation, Gemini then went on to produce the documentary A Legacy of Love. The film follows a terminally-ill cancer patient as he prepares a loving legacy for his family; a gift they will receive after his departure. It premiered at the Elevate Film Festival, where it won Audience Award for Best Short Documentary in October 2007.

Gemini is also a contributing author to Open to Hope: Inspirational Stories of Healing After Loss and More Than Money: How to Leave A Lasting Legacy to Your Family, a recognized expert on love and loss, she is a contributing panelist to OpentoHope.com, and she hosts workshops in her birthplace, the United Kingdom, and America, where she currently lives. She helps families and organizations to overcome and prepare for the challenges of loss. She is also a practicing member of the The National Federation of Spiritual Healers.
About my Loss:
I discovered the importance of our Emotional Assets after my own Mom died from cancer when she was just 48 years old.

I was only 21 at the time.

Despite having plenty of time to accept that she was going to die, we were not prepared for her death and although she had written a Will, I quickly learned that inheriting her car and some cash just wasn’t enough.

Few appreciated the challenges I faced in light of my loss.

My world had been transformed from a stable and supportive place to somewhere unsteady and foggy with grief. Mum’s love – the most important ingredient in my life, the fuel with which every mother feeds her child – had gone. In its place was the ‘gaping void’ of grief.

I remember wishing I had a way to reconnect with my mother’s love, especially during birthdays and celebrations – previously joyous occasions that had become Lonely Landmarks.

I yearned for something to help me maintain the fading connection – a letter for the worst moments in life, something that captured her familiar words “it will be allright darling,” or a video that showed her freckly face breaking into a cheeky grin as she collapsed into one of her fits of giggles. I wanted to know the story of her life to read time and time again. To learn more about who she was, what she believed in and the choices she has made in her life.

I wanted anything that captured the affection of which my mum had once been the source, to remind me of her love, and offer a glimmer of hope in my darkest hour.

A legacy of mum’s love would have helped to prevent my connection with her from fading, while reducing my suffering and motivating me when times were tough. Sadly my Mom didn’t get the chance to do this.

But by sharing both your financial assets and your emotional assets, you can capture your total wealth to leave precious parting gift, a Legacy of Love, for your family and friends.

This is your opportunity to Realize the Gift in Goodbye.

I really hope this website, based on my award-winning book, Your Legacy of Love: Realize the gift in Goodbye, will give you the advice, guidance and help so you can create an ever-lasting gift that will touch the hearts and souls of your loved ones, bringing them relief, laughter and love in their time of greatest need.

With love and blessings,
Gemini Adams
