Profile Information

About Me:
Almost married, 3 children, a Daddy's girl always and never truly got along with my mother. I work full time, take care of my home, my 64 year old father on hospice, his 67 year old brother who just had lung cancer surgery, and my 93 year old grandfather.
About my Loss:
My Dad is a Vietnam War Vet who was a sharp shooter and worked special ops with John Ripley in 67-69. He was wounded and went back to battle, exposed to Agent Orange as so many of our poor men were over there, and when he finished his tour he came home and only took the minimum the government allowed him. He didn't feel he should get paid to serve our great country. He married my mother, who had 2 kids, and became the only father they knew, and had me and my younger sister. He worked every day of his life and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer January 2005 when my parents split up for a few years. I took care of him, cleaned his appt, did his wash, food shopped... When he became sick, my mother told him to quit being a baby, he had a stomach cold. It was cancer. He ended up having a successful Whipple procedure, and went back to work 3 months later. He was laid off when he was 61, forced into early retirement and had money worries. Last year he looked like he was losing weight, sickly. In September, he was rediagnosed with Pancreatic cancer that spread to his lungs. He went to the Cancer Treatment Center of America, wonderful place, until he just had a rare side effect from the chemo, an infection in his spleen. He probably wont' beat it. So my once strong, in control, protective loving gentle father is now a bony, scared, shell of who he was. He can't walk, and he wears diapers. I don't know how to handle this. He's my hero, he never enjoyed life, now his Grandkids will only remember a bit of him...i'm so heart broken and scared for him...

"GriefShare is a church based support group. They do have meetings online, but the usual format is a group of people experiencing a loss getting together weekly to watch videos (13 weeks total) about grief and loss. After the video, we talk about the…"
