My husband got a flu like virus 2 weeks ago and seemed to be getting better. Last Monday I called and texted him with no response so I came home and found him in bed, gone. He was 35 years old and healthy, this is not supposed to happen! I should not be a 39 year old widow. I cannot accept that this is my life now.

That is so awful. Welcome to our sad club. We are here for you.

Stacey, my heart breaks for you. You're right...you shouldn't be a 39 year old widow...anymore than any of us should be widows and widowers. And to have lost him just before the Holidays is like adding insult to injury. I lost my husband 2 years ago in November, just before the Holidays. It's a very difficult time. Everyone else wants to be happy and you can't figure out how to even get up and survive another day. My thoughts are with you.

Stacey,

So sorry for your loss, death is just unbelievable. I am not as young as you but I still cannot accept my life without my husband of 35 years. This is a wonderful site to help you through your grief

Linda

Stacey, I am so very sorry and sad to hear of your loss.  The photo of the two of you is beautiful.

I lost my beautiful Dreamgirl eight months ago this past Monday.  This site has been an absolute godsend for me, and, as you can see, many others.  It absolutely sucks that you're in the position where you had to search us out, but unfortunately that's the reality.  Now that you're here, just know that you're not alone. This group understands your pain and situation in a way others can not.  It's the last group I would ever want to join, but now that circumstances have put us in this position, it's the best place to be (imho).

You're in my thoughts.

I'm so very sorry Stacey. I am new to this group too...but I became a widow two years ago at age 41. No it is not supposed to happen. All I could feel was shock, numbness, denial, and despair..I was not in this world. You should not be a 39 year old widow.  I am so sorry.

My husband's name was Shannon so when it popped up that Shannon responded, I spazed a bit!

oh my goodness...I would have spazed too if my husband's name had popped up on a response ....and I will add that what others are saying is true for me too...this experience is very isolating and alienating and just knowing that you're not the only one going through it helps. hugs to you.

So very sorry for your loss. Very heart-wrenching. One thing we all have in common here is that we share your pain. You can express your emotions and feelings in any way you feel and you will not be judged. My heart goes out to you. Your tears are my tears.

Stacey,  I am so sorry for your loss. You are right,.... you are too young to have this happen.   And so drastically!   We are here for you.  Hope you can find encouragement here.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss, Stacey. I am new to this community and have found comfort in sharing this extremely painful journey within such a caring community. At times it helps just to know that we aren't alone. I lost my husband not quite 2 months ago very suddenly and unexpectedly as well. He was only 46 and now I am a widow at 42. We had only been married for 4 short months. All I can share in the newness of my grief is that there is love and humanity amongst us and embracing that seems to provide an inkling of hope on even the darkest of days.

Stacey!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have no words, but just hugs for you. I am so very sorry.

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
