I think our heaven will have all of the animals we loved in life too - as well as the animals everyone else loved. My dad's dog is here too. She is getting quite old, and it's only a matter of time. I thought two weeks ago I would have to put her down, because she was having a hard time breathing. But, it turned out only to be allergies - thank God. I didn't want to make the choice of putting her down as much as my dad loved her, and at the same time I was thinking - maybe she'll be happy to see them again and would rather I did that for her. My dad also said animals were smarter than us but we just saw ourselves as more civilized. I think it's neat that your dad's cat jumped on you like he used to jump on your dad - either he's letting you deeper into his heart or he is bringing messages to you from your dad.

jb - that's how my dad's cats were with my dad - they played fetch with him like a dog. He'd sit in his chair after he got sick for hours at a time and throw the ball and they'd bring it back to him. He always said he'd never seen cats behave like that too. These cats brought so much joy to my dad's life that I think God sent them to him to help him through his end years.

jb - if our dad's would have been born in our generation when stand up comedians became so popular, they probably would have both become rich and famous being stand up comedians.
Your dad was funny - probably still is and has them laughing in heaven. It rained here yesterday. My dad would say during thunderstorms whenever there was a boom from the thunder that someone in heaven just got a strike - he said thunderstorms were them just bowling in heaven. And, he was so handicapped he couldn't even bowl himself, so I'm not sure where he got that from. I just remember I was about 8 years old and playing on the street in front of our house during rain the first time I heard that. He didn't get much education as a child due to his child abuse and neglect. I think if he would have been educated, he would have been a great writer. He had such an imagination. Did you dad like to make those jokes about chicken's crossing the road and what came first the chicken or the egg? My dad used to say stuff like, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" And everyone expected him to say to get to the other side, and he'd say, "Because there was a big semi coming and he had to get out of the way" or something along those lines. It was different every time.
Did your dad like animals? My dad loved animals. He used to take me alone - leave mom and the brothers at home - out into the country and we'd stop at people's farms and knock on the door and he'd say, "My little girl just loves animals, and I was wondering if she could pet your mule or cow or whatever they had." I have a picture of me sitting in a field petting someone's bunny and him sitting next to me when I was just a small child. One time these people had guinea pigs they were selling and there was this ugly ugly guinea pig that I just fell in love with. He had one eye popping out and the other in more. One eye was a different color than the other one. His fur was really short and a mottled bunch of different colors - not even as pretty as brindled - just mottled. My dad said, "Well, I'm not sure why you want that ugly thing, but if you want it, I'll get it for you." So, he bought me a guinea pig and on the way home in his truck we named it Popeye. I had that guinea pig for years. It was many years later when my dad got his guinea pig that I told you about the pictures he took with it. Everyone made fun of me for having such an ugly guinea pig, but my dad defended me and told them to leave me alone. My dad saved stray dogs and cats all the time. I have a cat here now that was his that he saved. It had a brother, but it died of feline leukemia that it already had when my dad found it. By some miracle, it's litter mate did not catch the leukemia before we got it vaccinated even though they'd been together for quite some time with the other cat sick.
