Yes meds do help. They do not take the pain away. The meds do help me sleep and after 3 years and other losses etc it was a God send. 5mg ambien also 5mg valium as needed. I have been on Zoloft for about 10 years now. My job went to China and I did contract work for 10 years at 13 places. I am not a happy camper and wonder if I ever will be again. I used to be a really upbeat happy person. Not now and probably never again. I guess we are supposed to roll with the changes. Well I am pissed off about all of it and if it offends anyone....get over it. I am not and never will be the same person that I was. Yes it makes me sad to say this to anyone reading this but I have not one person to share this with. Would a psychiatrist help? I bet not. Walk in my shoes and then maybe you will know. Peace to all of you. Jean

Hi Jean,

I agree with you a psychiatrist will not help bring my beloved Husband, my meds do help, they keep me sane  and keep me going on with my daily life, each day is hell without him but I must go on. Thanks for your input.

I personally don't have a desire for psychiatric meds. At my last counseling session we got talking about depression as I am completely depressed. Gee, why wouldn't I be. I don't feel like I've given up on myself but I do feel like I've given up on life and just feel no damn point to it. She mentioned meds and I'm sure my face showed my complete lack of interest. But then she said something that I could appreciate. At one point she was going through a crisis situation, couldn't even think straight, and knew for herself she needed something to help get her through. So a doctor appointment was made and she got on a medication. After 8 or 9 months she felt like it wasn't needed anymore, called her doctor, and weaned off it. For her, it really helped those months until she felt better able to deal with her situation. I don't know what the situation was and I didn't ask.

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your input.

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More
