My husband, Kevin, was hunting with his dad on 1-7-16 and his dad accidently shot Kevin, but being prideful and having dementia, he lied and the Sheriff closed case EVEN after coroner said no way he could of shot himself with the injuries and also a forensic specialist I hired for $4,000.00 agreed. Fred moved both guns and rabbit before Sheriff came.

Apparently this is no big deal for the Sheriff Department.  Since I have been fighting 8 months for justice and getting no where. I have changed my goal to making awareness of guns and dementia.  Do you know that 20 percent of gun owners are over 65 and 11 percent of them have dementia.  Do you guys have any ideas, how I can start awareness, campaigns, or walks to help people understand this growing problem.  I need to become productive in my grief as I will never get justice in this county.  Ruthie

Has Kevin's dad actually been officially diagnosed with dementia? If so, or if you are able to legally make a medical and mental health exam/diagnosis occur, I would think you have a fair chance of at least having his guns removed from his home.

Fred has not been diagnosed yet, but the Sheriff did not return my calls. My daughter and I are seeing my lawyer tomorrow to see if we can file a wrongful death claim.  I really do not want to as I am exhausted emotionally, but she wants to see Fred and the Sheriff to have some accountability with the new findings.

I understand being exhausted; maybe your daughter can handle most of it.

Lawyer said we can file a wrongful death claim--but I feel my husband would hate this--but my daughter needs accountability and closure.  Ugh thanks for listening.

New Lawyer out of town--says he can file paperwork with Ohio Prosecutor and we definitely have enough  for wrongful death.  All I want is an I AM SORRY and Man up.

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More
