My father died recently, and after losing my mother when I was a teenager, I am now parentless at age 32. My dad did a lot of strange things that I feel somewhat betrayed by, including basically taking on a 'second family' in the last few years of his life. (Basically gold diggers who were after his money.)

So I feel that I was processing his death for only a day or two before these people did things so dramatic and upsetting, it kind of stalled my grief process. I feel almost completely in denial that he has died...I even pick up the phone to call him several times a week.

Does anyone have any advice on how to process these feelings, or grief in general? I thought I'd felt alone in the past, but now I realize I had no idea what loneliness could really look like.

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
