The 5th of August makes 3 months since I lost my mom. I dread the from the 1st on waiting for the 5th. From that morning I am back at may 5th. I am back in that hospital room making the decisions I made and sitting with her as she died. This will be the first anniversary o have to work and I worry my emotions will be out of control

I haven't signed in to this site for quite a while, so I didn't see this post until now. I hope you were able to muddle through the 5th with less pain than you anticipated.

If you can, for the first few years at least, try to take a day off work on that day -- that's what I did.

This is the first time I have worked on the anniversary of moms death the first two in was off. I am not sure how I made it through but I get through the day. I think that taking the day off may be best.

"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
